The world is always shifting. Regulations, markets, supply chains—they ebb and flow with little concern for our plans or preferences. As a business owner, this is not new. It’s simply reality.
Recently, new tariffs have been implemented that directly impact how we operate at Cristy Cali Jewelry. Ours is a business built on global collaboration—a delicate, intentional rhythm that spans continents. Our Mayan Jade is sourced from ancient mines in Guatemala, one of the few places in the world where authentic jade can still be found. Our Cosmic Collection is crafted in India, a country celebrated for its mastery in gemstone cutting. Our Couture Charms Collection are handmade in Thailand, where expert artisans bring each design to life with precision and care. We rely on Italian craftsmanship for our chains, and packaging flows through Hong Kong, a central hub for jewelry presentation and display. This international network isn’t just about logistics—it’s about relationships, culture, and a shared commitment to beauty. It’s how we’ve worked for years. And now, that rhythm is being disrupted.
With every disruption comes a period of instability—a necessary space where systems recalibrate. This is where we find ourselves now. It is not a crisis; it is a shift. And shifts, like all things in nature, are governed by a simple law: what is thrown off balance will eventually find equilibrium again.
Just today, we received our first import duties invoice since these tariffs took effect. The cost? Three and a half times what we’re accustomed to paying.
It’s significant. It changes things. But it does not shake me.
We’ve always worked with a lean, intentional process—restocking in small batches, prioritizing quality, staying agile. That foundation remains strong. While this shift introduces new pressures, it does not demand panic. It demands clarity, adaptability, and presence.
This isn’t the first time I’ve faced unexpected circumstances in business, and it won’t be the last. Over the past 13 years, I’ve come to understand that where there’s a problem, there’s a process—solutions come through action, not panic. It’s not about controlling what happens, but choosing how we meet it.
I’m choosing to meet this season with calm.
In Meditations, Marcus Aurelius wrote with clarity and conviction about the nature of disruption—how we should not be surprised by it, but meet it with preparedness and equanimity. Over time, I came to adopt this philosophy as part of my own framework: we should expect disruption—not with fear, but with preparation. And while I don’t know exactly how this will unfold, I do know we’ll find a way forward. We always have.
But Stoicism is only one lens, one of many I have chosen to adopt.
Spiritually, I hold a deep faith that everything I need to face challenges already lives within me. I trust myself, and I trust that the universe supports those who are aligned with purpose. I believe that when we walk by faith—not by sight—we are met with guidance, grace, and the right opportunities at the right time.
From a mindfulness perspective, I’ve learned to stay grounded in the present moment. Worry lives in the future. Strength is found in the now. By focusing on what is directly in front of me—what I can do today—I protect my peace and preserve my energy for meaningful action, rather than scattered reaction.
Each of these perspectives—philosophical, spiritual, and mindful—offers the same underlying truth: the path forward is built one clear, steady step at a time. And in that steadiness, there is power.
To those of you who support Cristy Cali Jewelry—whether you’ve been with us for years or just discovered us through Substack—I want you to know this: I share these moments not just as a business update, but as a reflection of my personal journey. Transparency means something, for our customers to see the heart, decisions, and challenges behind what we create. More importantly, I hope these words remind you that you’re not alone in navigating uncertainty. We’re all figuring things out, step by step. This is my way of walking with you—and inviting you to walk with me.
If you’re navigating uncertainty in your own life or business, know this: you’re not alone. You don’t have to have all the answers today.
Focus on what’s in front of you. Breathe.
Take the next step. And let the rest unfold.

Incredible perspective - thank you for sharing! I really appreciate the clarity you hold on this in a very challenging moment of uncertainty.
I am trying to keep positive but it is difficult because I feel like we are causing division between cultures when we should be celebrating the beauty in every culture. I like your thinking and this helps me to reflect on what mindset I am in and focus on growing.
